Half-Day Retreat with the
Bozeman Zen Group
Saturday, December 9th
8:30 am – 1:00 pm
led by Karen DeCotis
You may have heard stories of people hearing a dog bark or a stone hitting bamboo who then experienced kensho or sudden awakening. What is enlightenment/ And what does the experience mean? Does it occur suddenly or, as Shunryu Suzuki Roshi suggested, is it more like walking through a fog where we are gradually soaked through. Perhaps it is both. In celebration of Buddha’s day of enlightenment, let us ponder this koan together
This morning of practice will offer tea and a light snack at the beginning (8:00 am) followed by sitting and walking meditation, a dharma talk, and an opportunity to meet with the teacher. A suggested donation of $15 is asked and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
All Are Welcome. Prior registration is encouraged but not required. You may sign up at the Dharma Center or email Kdecotis@gmail.com to register.
It is recommended that you attend the whole day. For the day’s schedule and more details, please click here…
