Introduction to Insight Meditation

3 Wednesdays, May  10, 17 and 24

7:00 – 8:30 pm

with Floyd Fantelli,
Leader of the Bozeman Insight Meditation Community

Head and lotus

This class will teach the basic mindfulness practice of the path of Insight Meditation, or Vipassana, the oldest of the three Buddhist lineages.  This practice is compatible with Zen, Tibetan practices and Christian contemplative prayer, in that it offers the foundational tools for establishing and maintaining moment-to-moment awareness of the body and mind.  You will also learn to practice Metta the Buddhist Meditation on Loving-kindness. This class is a wonderful opportunity for experienced meditators to renew and refine their meditation.

The course will be cumulative, so attendance at the first session is required for the 2nd and 3rd if you are a beginner.  You may attend the first session only, if you’d like to check it out with no obligation.  Those with prior experience are welcome to come to any session to refresh or enhance their practice. We will discuss my favorite teachings of the Buddha on the third night as well as refining our meditation skills

No prior registration or experience necessary (Just come!)

The course is offered for a suggested donation per session:

Base rate: $10;
Students/supportive rate: $5-10;
Benefactor rate: $15-20

Please offer what is appropriate for your circumstances.
If your circumstances do not allow you to make a contribution, please enjoy the class free of charge with our blessings.
