Introduction to Dharmata

4 Tuesdays, October 3, 10, 17 and 24

10:00 am – 11:00 am

with Susan Morgan,
Leader of the Bozeman Dharmata Sangha

In these challenging times, the beautiful Buddhist practices can help orient us to find meaning, calm our minds, open our hearts and “explore the resources of our deep inner life.”

This four week course will introduce the three “yanas” or vehicles of the dynamic, non-linear, integrated path of Tibetan Buddhism. Each session will focus on aspects of the view, meditation and action of each yana.

Week I – Hinayana or Foundation : the Four Noble Truths, shamatha or calm-abiding
meditation, ethics.
Week II – Mahayana – the Great Vehicle: cultivation of the heart, Emptiness and
Compassion, the Four Immeasurables, and the Six Paramitas.
Week III – Vajrayana – The Tantric Path of Indestructible Wakefulness: Sacred World,
devotion, visualization, deity practice, liturgy and integration – everything is a gate to wake up,
Week IV – Establishing a personal practice : place, time, meditation

Please pre-register.  You can register online here or sign up at the BDC.
It is beneficial to commit to all four sessions (if you can) and to commit to a daily meditation practice during the course. This will provide a stable container for our exploration.

Please offer what is appropriate for your circumstances.
If your circumstances do not allow you to make a contribution, please enjoy the class free of charge with our blessings.

About the Teacher

Bozeman Dharmata Sangha is a local group under the guidance of Anam Thubten
Rinpoche, a meditation master and the spiritual director and founder of the Dharmata
Foundation. Dharmata is in the lineage of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Susan Morgan, ordained as a Dharma Leader by Anam Thubten in 2012, guides and advises the sangha. The group is coordinated by the local Dharmata Council: Mem Schultz, Tammi Matthews, Casey Cassidy, Sheila Devitt, and Ash Schoep.

Susan Morgan is a student of Tibetan Buddhism and practiced for many years in the Christian and Theravadan Buddhist traditions. Inspired by Anam Thubten Rinpoche’s teachings, Susan co-founded the Bozeman Dharmata Sangha in 2010 and was ordained by him as a Dharma Leader in 2012. She is a co-founder of the Bozeman Dharma Center. Susan is a diplomate Jungian analyst, a former psychotherapist and social worker and has eight grandchildren. Over the past few years, she made several pilgrimages to the Buddhist sites in India, Bhutan and Nepal.
