Buddhist Perspectives on Global Climate Change

Saturday, September 9th

9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Note: We are not streaming this event live.

This offering is the first of four opportunities to investigate and dive into climate change through a Buddhist lens at the BDC. Please click here to see the whole schedule.

Climate change and global warming are the buzz words of our times. In the media the rate of the warming of the planet can evoke many feelings. It can feel horrifying, confusing, unbelievable, and so overwhelming we turn our heads and hearts away because it is too much to comprehend. Some people believe climate change is “fake”. Some believe it is “real”. What do you think/feel/believe within your body/heart/mind?

This half-day gathering will be an exploration into Buddhist perspectives on perhaps the most crucial situation of our times. This half-day will include: short sitting practices, guided meditations, small group and whole group discussion, videos, and excerpts from dharma talks.

All are welcome to this inquiry and are invited to have an opportunity to be in sangha where we can feel supported, vulnerable to our felt body sensations, emotions and thoughts, and listen to one another around this topic.

The course is offered for a suggested donation:

Base rate: $10-15; Students/supportive rate: $5-10; Benefactor rate: $15-20
No one turned away for lack of funds.

All are welcome, no prior registration or experience necessary.  These streamed workshops are very casual- come when you can, leave when you need to.  Latecomers welcome.
