June 22, 7:00 – 9:00 pm
June 23, 9:45 am – 5:00 pm
with Tempel Smith
The mind (and heart) are the forerunners of all experience, and for this it deserves careful attention and familiarity. It is through the mind we process our experience of the world, and depending on which qualities of the mind are present we will have very different experiences. During the day of practice we develop mindfulness of the breath and body as a foundation of awareness, and then turn our insight practice to the mind itself.
Friday, June 22: 7 – 9 pm
(also open to the public as a stand-alone evening)
Saturday, June 23: 9:45 am – 5:00 pm
Friday evening is required for those continuing on Saturday.
Tempel Smith began practicing meditation in 1989 at Insight Meditation Society (IMS). He has taught meditation and Buddhist psychology since 2001 and is a senior teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, leading retreats and directing their dedicated practitioner program.
Weekend retreats, classes and workshops at the Dharma Center have a 2-part “cost:” Because the teachings are considered priceless and are to be supported by Dana (a voluntary, anonymous offering of no specified amount) we ask that you consider making a Dana offering to the teacher, in gratitude and support of the teachings – as best fits your circumstances and brings you joy in giving.
Secondly, we ask a sliding-scale registration fee to cover Tempel’s expenses and the cost of putting on the workshop. Scholarships are always available and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds.
This online registration is offered for those who prefer to pre-pay by card and is priced for the full program (Friday evening and Saturday).
If you’d like to pre-pay as you register online, the flat rates of $30, $55 and $80 are offered. If you are mailing in a check you may opt for an amount on the sliding scale (see details). If you pay at the door by cash, check (To BIC) or credit card, you will also be able to chose from the scale, but we recommend paying at time of registration to hold your place in the workshop; there may be a waiting list. Scholarships are always offered – no one turned away for lack of funds.
Please enter the number of people you are registering in the box to the right of the rate you are opting to pay.
