About Insight Dialogue

Insight Dialogue brings the mindfulness and tranquility of traditional silent meditation practice into our interactions with others. It offers the ability to observe in real time how we communicate through our self-constructs and our sense of the other. Meditating together, we serve as each other’s reminder to awaken to the mind’s constructing nature and its great potential for awareness and freedom.

In this retreat, we will maintain noble silence as a support for traditional meditation and Insight Dialogue. We will live the following question throughout our time together:  How can this practice support insight right now, and how can the path of awakening be carried forward into my entire life?

The practice of Insight Dialogue was developed by Greg Kramer and has been taught by him, Mary Burns and others around the world since 1995. He is the co-founder and president of the Metta foundation. More information may be found at metta.org.

Meals/Schedule

Saturday and Sunday will allow for a 1:15 lunch break; you may bring your own or plan to go out/home.  On Saturday, a light supper meal will be served, and participants will stay through to the end of the day at 8 pm.

Housing

This is a non-residential retreat.  If you are coming from out of town and would like housing with local Insight Community members, please email us at info@BozemanDharmaCenter.org and we will make every attempt to find housing for you.

Costs and The Practice of “Dana”

Weekend retreats at the Dharma Center have a 2-part “cost:”  Because the teachings are considered priceless and are to be supported by Dana (a voluntary, anonymous offering of no specified amount) we ask that you make a Dana offering to the teacher, in gratitude and support of the teachings – as best fits your circumstances and brings you joy in giving.
Secondly, we ask a sliding-scale registration fee to cover Mary’s expenses and the cost of putting on the retreat.  Scholarships are always available and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. Please opt for the rate that best suits your circumstances:

Base rate $125
Student/Supportive rate $50 – 75
Sustaining rate $175

To Register

Step 1:  Please email registrations@BozemanDharmaCenter.org.
and list “INSIGHT DIALOGUE” in the subject line.
You will receive a confirmation email through our automated system once we’ve read your email and placed you on the list (which may take a couple of days).

Step 2:  Unless you have arranged other scholarship or payment plans with us over email, please either mail us or drop off your registration fee by check if you can.  While we can take payments at the door, it helps to have as many people pre-paid as possible.  Please write “INSIGHT DIALOGUE” on the notation line of your check, as we have registration open for several events at this time.

About Mary Burns

Mary Burns, senior teacher of Insight Dialogue, leads retreats worldwide and offers teachings online through Metta Programs. Mary is a long time student of meditation and yoga, and also a practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She teaches Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and has studied and practiced for three decades at the intersection of western and eastern healing traditions.
