A bell-ringer will open and close the session with three bells and will ring one bell at 12:30. The meditation will be in silence\, but people are welcome to connect before and after each session. \nDrop-in meditations are offered free of any charge\, as a communal support to practice. DESCRIPTION:The Metaphor of Fire\nBIC Guest: Dave Smith\nThursday\nNovember 20\n6:30 – 8 PM\nOnline\nIn early Buddhist thought- greed\, hatred\, and confusion are expressed as the three fires. These fires symbolize the process of craving\, clinging\, and fueling which encompasses the entirety of the second noble truth.  Greed and hatred may appear obvious\, but confusion\, also translated as delusion and ignorance (moha) is much more complex\, sneaky\, and vastly misunderstood in consequence and translation. Often taught as the root causes of suffering it misses the bigger message of the Dharma. The metaphor of fire does not simply indicate that which causes suffering\, but rather that which entraps us\, enslaves the mind\, keeping us bound-up in self-deception and self destruction.
