SUMMARY:Pali Canon Study Group
DESCRIPTION:Pali Canon Study Group\nTuesdays 1:15-2:15 PM\nIn person and via Zoom\nAlthough Bozeman Dharma Center houses groups from multiple lineages\, one thing we all have in common is a reliance on the teachings of the Buddha. The Pali Canon is recognized as the earliest written record of the Buddha’s teachings\, given before the Buddhist community divided into different schools. This peer-led study group will begin by tackling readings from the Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha. You do not need to own the book to participate and do not need to commit to attending every week. Already having a practice and familiarity with the Dharma will be helpful. \nBasic Schedule\n1:15 Short sit\n1:30 Read portion of Pali Canon with discussion afterward\n2:15 Close

SUMMARY:Poetry from Emptiness with Kerry Neal
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, February 16\n2:30-3:30 PM\nA small group is sitting in silence.\nSomeone claps their hands and\nspeaks a line of poetry.\nMore silence until\na responding line of poetry arises\nin the mind of another\nwho then claps their hands\nand speaks that line.\nReturn to empty mind.\nContinue. \n\nPoetry from Emptiness is a technique from the Daoist literary tradition of China. It promotes creative friendship through shared verbal images and the pleasure of just quietly sitting in tranquility. \n\nNo right\, no wrong\njust thoughts that continue\na cascade of images. \n\nYou do not have to think of yourself as a poet to enjoy Poetry from Emptiness. You only need to be open\, curious\, contemplative and spontaneous. Poetry from Emptiness is not based on a philosophy or religion. It only requires a mind empty of preconceptions.
