SUMMARY:Zen Sesshin
DESCRIPTION:Retreat Description\nThe Bozeman Zen Group welcomes Nomon Tim Burnett back to Bozeman to lead our third annual multi-day sesshin! Registration coming soon! \nThe sesshin offers inspiring practice with zendo forms in place – right at the Bozeman Dharma Center. Enjoy zazen\, service\, dharma talks\, and oryōki (formal eating) practice. Hours are 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Thursday – Saturday\, with a half day on Sunday. Although participation can be flexible\, priority for attendance will be given to those who sign up for all four days. Persons planning to attend on Sunday should have attended at least one other day of the sesshin. There is no Sunday-only option. \nAbout Nomon Tim Burnett\nTim has been a student of Zoketsu Norman Fischer since 1987 when he was a resident at San Francisco Zen Center’s Green Gulch Farm. After sitting practice periods at Green Gulch and Tassajara Zen Monastery\, Tim helped found the Bellingham Zen Practice Group in 1991. Tim was ordained as a Zen Priest by Norman in 2000\, received Dharma Transmission in 2011\, and was installed as Guiding Teacher of the Red Cedar Zen Community in April\, 2017. A person of wide-ranging professional interests\, Tim has been a botanist\, carpenter\, elementary school teacher\, writer\, and computer programmer. In addition to his work at the Guiding Teacher of Red Cedar Zen Community\, Tim is Executive Director of Mindfulness Northwest where he offers the Dharma in the form of secular mindfulness to many in local communities and professions. \nMeals\nWe will be providing two oryōki meals with instruction provided by Nomon. These meals are part of the practice and will be held in silence. \nFees & Teacher Dana\nThe registration fees for the retreat cover the basic costs of putting on the retreat such as rent\, food cost\, and support for the sangha. None of the fees go to Nomon who spends much time and energy preparing his dharma talks. Please consider supporting Nomon with dana (financial generosity) so that he may continue offering the teachings in the future. Please factor in dana when considering what level of registration works for you. \nNote that you can register for the whole event and get a slight discount or sign up for certain days of the sesshin. Each option has sliding scale registration. \nCancellation Policy\nWe understand that life happens and you may not be able to attend the sesshin. If you are able to let us know more than two weeks before the retreat starts\, we are happy to provide a full refund to you minus a $10 admin fee. If you cancel less than two weeks before the event\, we can offer a 50% refund (no less than $10 withheld). If you have to cancel two days before the retreat\, we appreciate you letting us know but are unable to provide a refund. If you have to cancel\, you have the option to donate your partial or entire registration fee to the scholarship fund. This would be much appreciated and help us make sure no one is turned away from retreats due to lack of funds.
