Five Day, ONLINE, At-Home Retreat

with Tempel Smith

Friday May 15 – Wednesday May 20

Through Buddhist practices of loving-kindness, mindfulness, and insight meditation, we welcome a steady, calm awareness of our immediate experience.  With greater clarity of mind, presence of attention and warmth of heart we can open to deeper truths based in wisdom and compassion.  The teachings of this retreat will focus on the classical Buddhist discourse of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Satipatthana Sutta MN 10).

This retreat is suitable for those new to meditation practice as well as those with some experience and dedication to this path. We wholeheartedly welcome people from all identities and backgrounds to participate in this retreat. The At-Home format will allow for flexibility in the afternoons if there are some needs you must attend to. This retreat is limited to 40 people, so please do not register if you are unable to attend all sessions.

The retreat will include dharma talks, guided meditations, instruction, Q&A and one afternoon group meeting. Additional support will be available if you need to contact the teacher or retreat manager at any time. If you have any questions, please email info@BozemanDharmaCenter.org.

We are not planning on recording this retreat.

Schedule

In order to make this retreat more accessible for those navigating a daily-life environment, we have reduced the portion of the retreat that is required. Those who can make the time available will still have a three hour morning and a guided sit + Q&A with Tempel in the evenings. Those who’d like to participate at a reduced time commitment can enjoy a 1 1/2 hour morning session and take the other sessions off, some days or every day, as needed.

First Day: Friday, May 15:
7:00 – 8:30 PM Opening Session

Middle Four Days: Saturday – Tuesday, May 16 – 19:
10 AM – 11:30 AM: Instructions, Guided Sit, Q&A
11:30 – 12:15 PM: Walking and Stretching
12:15 – 1:00 PM – Optional Sit

(afternoons have optional individual practice,
group interviews and open time)

7:00 – approx 8:30 PM Optional Sit and Q&A

Last day: Wednesday, May 20:
10 AM – 11:30 AM: Instructions, Guided Sit, Closing Circle
Retreat ends at 11:30 AM on Wednesday

About Tempel Smith

Tempel Smith began practicing meditation in 1989 at Insight Meditation Society (IMS). He has taught meditation and Buddhist psychology since 2001 and is a senior teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, leading retreats and directing their dedicated practitioner program.
