Being Centered in Difficult Times

with Tempel Smith

Saturday, June 3
10 AM – 4:30 PM

In person with Zoom option

Over the past two and a half millennia of human history, the teachings of the Buddha have helped people in many countries see their way through pleasant and difficult times. Even during the life of the Buddha, the world of India was going through many changes and social upheaval. The country of Sri Lanka faithfully propagated his teachings and meditation techniques during civil wars and invasions from foreign lands and now Buddhist activists worldwide use these teachings to sustain themselves through their own country’s civil unrest.

Bringing these Sri Lankan teachings to meet the challenges of today, Buddhist practitioners have found inner sanctuary to stay grounded, open minded, and firm in their ethical attunement. In this retreat day, we will explore those wise perspectives and helpful practices to meet the anger, anxiety, grief or fear that can arise from our current social and political conditions.

Appropriate for both new and experienced practitioners.

Prior registration is required. In-person attendance limited to 30 participants, online Zoom participation is unlimited.  Zoom number provided upon registration (does not use the normal Zoom number). Please register early so we can make sure we have enough space for everyone.
