Zentangle™ and the Buddha’s Teaching on
“Not Too Tight, Not Too Loose”

with Ellen Sagmyr and Mem Schultz

Saturday, March 7
9 AM – 1 PM

Bozeman Dharma Center presents the first offering from our newly formed Mindful Creativity Group, which offers a series of classes and workshops meant to explore the connections between teachings of the Buddha and the variety of art forms in our lives.

This workshop will bring together the traditional Buddhist story of the lute player, and the creative principles and hands-on activity of the art of Zentangle.  You do not have to be an experienced meditator or artist to participate in this workshop.  All welcome.  To best facilitate instruction and discussion, participant numbers will be limited to 14 people. Please register by February 23 to allow facilitators time to purchase materials.

More about the Zentangle™ Method

The Zentangle™ Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create miniature pieces of non-representational art; using structured, repetitive patterns drawn on small paper ‘tiles’. It is a form of artistic meditation with one step naturally following the next, resulting in a simple, powerful ritual.

The Zentangle™ Method invites the artist to engage with deliberate, relaxed focus, staying in the present moment and opening to the process. To be intentional, with no attachment to outcome, allowing the artwork to unfold one stroke at a time. The process encourages the artist to ground themselves in the present moment, and connect to their body and breath: and it invites them into a space of gratitude.

The Zentangle™ Method does not require previous drawing experience, it just requires you being open to a new creative, mindful, experience.
