About this program:

The keys to healthy relationships include empathy, compassion, kindness, equanimity and appropriate assertiveness. These states of mind are based on underlying states of your brain. The emerging integration of modern neuroscience and ancient contemplative wisdom offers increasingly skillful means for activating those brain states, and thus for cultivating an open and caring heart, effective communication, balance during upsets and more fulfilling relationships.

This experiential workshop, led by a neuropsychologist, will offer user-friendly information about Buddhism and your brain, with lots of practical methods. No prior background with meditation or neuroscience is necessary.

The workshop will cover:

— A summary of the Buddha’s teachings on relationships

— The underlying neuropsychology of empathy, compassion, loving-kindness, and love, and how to strengthen these factors in your brain

— Practical ways to combine kindness and assertiveness, heart and strength

— Expanding the circle of “us” to include the whole world

Logistics:

All are welcome, no prior registration or experience necessary.  Half-Day participants are welcome. Come when you can, leave when you need to – these streaming days are casual and user-friendly.

A 1-hour lunch break will take place around 12:30 or 1 pm, depending on the length of the video segments.  Feel free to bring lunch and/or snacks or plan to go out.

These days are offered for the suggested donation of $25 ($10-15 student/supportive rate).  If you are just dropping in for the morning, we suggest $10, or whatever feels right to you.
If your circumstances do not enable you to make a donation, please enjoy the program with our blessings.  All proceeds go to the Dharma Center’s scholarship fund, unless otherwise posted.

Note: Unless specifically noted, we are not streaming these live. This program will air/aired live on November 5th.
