Meeting Your Life with Compassion

Weekend Retreat

Tim Burnett

July 26-28

The retreat will include sitting, presentation, and informal discussion.  This weekend is recommended for all levels of meditation experience.  Friday evening’s talk is drop-in and open to the public.

Zen Meditation emphasizes the power of meeting our lives with clarity and wisdom. Compassion training helps us learn to also meet those moments with kindness, curiosity and compassion. Visiting teacher, Nomon Tim Burnett from Red Cedar Zen Community in Bellingham, offers a workshop on practicing with the 59 mind training slogans for developing compassion popular in the Indo-Tibetan tradition. The root text for the weekend will be Norman Fischer’s Training in Compassion: Zen Teachings on the Practice of Lojong. It is not necessary to bring the book but you might find it useful to have read portions of it ahead. In his workshops Tim likes to offer a mix of presentation, discussion and experiential exercises.
