Wednesday, June 19
7:00 – 9:00 pm
with Tempel Smith
This evening will explore how the Buddha’s Mindfulness of the Body meditation practice relates to the emerging field of Somatic Experiencing TM and other somatic/neurological healing practices. Tempel will outline a framework for understanding somatic practice and clarify how practitioners can use mindfulness of body sensations as a practice of Insight Meditation and a source of healing and integration, wisely navigating the terrain of somatic sensations.
All are welcome, appropriate for all levels of meditation experience.
Prior registration is requested so that we may gauge class size. Offered for a suggested, sliding scale contribution.
Tempel Smith began practicing meditation in 1989 at Insight Meditation Society (IMS). He has taught meditation and Buddhist psychology since 2001 and is a senior teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, leading retreats and directing their dedicated practitioner program.
Weekend retreats, classes and workshops at the Dharma Center have a 2-part “cost:” Because the teachings are considered priceless and are to be supported by Dana (a voluntary, anonymous offering of no specified amount) we ask that you consider making a Dana offering to the teacher, in gratitude and support of the teachings – as best fits your circumstances and brings you joy in giving.
Secondly, we ask a sliding-scale registration fee to cover Tempel’s expenses and the cost of putting on the workshop. Scholarships are always available and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds.
This online registration is offered for those who prefer to pre-pay by card and is priced for the entire series of two.
Please enter the number of people you are registering in the box to the right of the rate you are opting to pay.
