Retreat Description
Taking time to practice together reminds us of the power of our shared humanity. It reminds us that we are all in this together. In these times of great loss and uncertainty, we each look for what can sustain us, what can help provide assurance that something is intact.  We look for something essential that has not been blown apart, and we yearn to once again align with our deepest values to find renewal.

 

So much has changed since news about the world wide pandemic made it’s way onto the airwaves and into our lives. The uncertainty and fear, hardship and loss is never-ending and at times it seems as though it will be impossible to contain. Adding another layer of anxiety – the current administration is unwilling to acknowledge and respect the results of the 2020 presidential election.  All of this and more is weighing heavily on all of us.  In November, the COVID-19 spikes in Montana are national news headlines.

 

So, what is still true? The mountains are standing, we are shoveling snow and watching the sunrise and set, we’re making meals and washing dishes, connecting with loved ones and much more. No matter the discord and distance – we are all connected.  The interconnectedness among all of us is one of the most powerful teachings of all.

 

During this day together we will  practice in order to cultivate a sense of agency, to understand that a range of responses is open to us. We will practice to remember to breathe, to have space in the midst of adversity to recall our values, what we really care about – and to find support in our inner strength, and in one another.
We will practice restorative stretches and movement, guided meditation and will take time for meals, journaling, quiet, walking, reflection and journaling.

 

Schedule
9:00 – 10:30 AM: Introductions, supportive yoga stretches, meditation, discussion
10:30 AM – Noon: Break for reflection, journaling, walking
12:00 – 12:30 PM: -Meditation
12:30 PM- 3:00 PM: Open time offline for meals, reflection, time outside, optional meditation
3:00 – 4:00 PM:  Short meditation, discussion, simple yoga and closing meditation
About Patsy Murphy

Patsy Murphy is a Meditation and Mindfulness teacher who moved to the Bozeman area a few years ago. She brings a wide range of meditation experience to her teachings – including training in all three branches of western Buddhist practice. She’s also worked extensively in the secular arena, offering the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course for the past 20 years. She has trained and studied with Jon-Kabat Zinn, Saki Santorelli, TKV Desikachar, Gary and Mirka Krafstow, Yongey Mingyur Rincpoche, Pema Chodron, Sharon Salzburg and Thich Nhat Hanh.  She mentors individuals, offers group courses and workshops, and leads meditation retreats in the tradition of Thich That Hanh.

Cancellation Policy
  • Cancelling more than two weeks from start of retreat: Full refund
  • Cancelling 1-2 weeks from retreat start: 50% refund
  • Cancelling less than 1 week from retreat start: 30% refund
  • Cancelling on Friday or Saturday of retreat date: No refund, but please let us know
  • If you need to cancel, please email: info@bozemandharmacenter.org
  • Extenuating circumstances pertaining to cancellation (including accident and illness) will be considered on a case-by- case basis
  • If you do have to cancel, you have the option to donate your partial or entire registration fee to the BDC scholarship fund. This would be much appreciated and help us make sure no one is turned away from BDC retreats due to lack of funds.
Registration Information

As this is an online event, dana for the teacher will not be collected separately.  Please factor in the dana you would like to offer Patsy in the registration fee you select. We will provide dana to Patsy from the collected registration income.

Please enter the number of people you are registering in the box to the right of the rate you are opting to pay.  If you opt for the Benefactor Rate, the amount above the registration rate will be considered a tax-exempt contribution.
