Dave Smith joins the Bozeman Insight Community via Zoom to discuss the power of retreats.

Sitting retreat is not a passive escape; it is a necessary, disciplined effort to reclaim ourselves. By removing the constant stimulation of feeds and obligations, we create the essential conditions to clearly examine why we are alive. This practice requires a supportive foundation of kindness and balance, allowing us to face difficult internal patterns without becoming overwhelmed. Through this systematic training, we develop the capacity to remain steady and clear-headed under pressure. It is practical skill-building meant directly for the challenges of the everyday world. Stepping away into a quiet, natural environment allows the nervous system to settle and recover its natural balance. Ultimately, we step back from the external noise so that we can honestly confront and embrace our lives as they are. A radical course in mind training 101.

Knowledge and Wisdom

Half-day with the Bozeman Zen Group

Saturday
July 18
8AM – Noon

Hybrid

Sometimes knowledge is equated with wisdom; we have a picture of a wise old master who knows all the answers. Yet Zen practice teaches us to be okay with not knowing. What is it about “knowing” that’s so compelling and how do we cultivate wisdom? This half-day of practice offers an opportunity to sit with these types of questions and discern our own meaning.

Social Sangha Supper

July 31
6-7 PM

In Person

Meet fellow practitioners, eat a nutritious meal, and support a worthy cause all in one go! On the last Friday of each month, we’ll meet at Fork & Spoon to have dinner together.

Please let us know you’re coming. It gets busy and we’ll need to reserve a table so we can all sit together!

General price for meal is $12.50, but you can pay what you can and also can pay it forward.
