On Saturday, January 7, join Insight Meditation and Mindful Self-Compassion teacher, Suzanne Colón, for an exploration of a perennial paradox: Can we appreciate ourselves just as we are, while also wishing for some changes in behavior? This workshop will include guided meditations, journal exercises and teachings from Buddhist-based resilience practices as well as perspectives on the Inner Critic from the Mindful Self-Compassion Course. All are welcome, no prior meditation experience necessary. Please bring a journal. Prior registration is required. In-person attendance is limited to 35 participants, online Zoom participation is unlimited. Register here.

Annual Appeal Update
Thank you to the 45 donors who have helped us raise $9430 toward our goal of $20,000! Our annual appeal provides almost a quarter of our operating budget. We can’t do it without you! You can contribute through our donation page under the Giving Tab. You can also contribute through Venmo by scanning the QR code below. Any amount is helpful and appreciated!

Dana Paramita is a fundamental Buddhist practice. It encourages us to be as generous as possible in support of three facets of life: generosity of resources, generosity of time and attention, generosity of sharing the Dharma. Your financial support will make a meaningful difference for maintaining our new home.

All Sangha Gatherings November 15 and 17
Please join us for a sangha-wide gathering and conversation. We have two offerings, please join us at either the Tuesday or Thursday meeting, 7:00 – 8:30pm. The Board of Directors would like to know how the BDC is doing and how we can serve you better.
The Board will open with a Dharma Center update but most of the time will be devoted to your feedback. We hope to see you there!
Buddhism Basics
Join senior BDC practitioners for the class series Buddhism Basics over four Wednesdays, October 26- November 16, 7-8:30 PM. This deep dive into the Dharma will offer the central teachings of this 2600 year old tradition. Each of the four classes will have a presentation, meditation, history, question and answer, dialogue. Great for those new to meditation and Buddhist practice. Seasoned practitioners are warmly encouraged as well.

Intro to Meditation

Our next Intro to Meditation class series starts this Wednesday, September 21 at 7 PM. Karen DeCotis from the Bozeman Zen Group (and the BDC’s new Director) will be leading these sessions. Learn practices from the Insight, Zen and Tibetan traditions. Meditation can help to calm the mind, open the heart, and awaken wisdom. It is a means to study ourselves by contacting our inner life. When we know ourselves well, we are better able to relate to others in the world with integrity and confidence. In the Buddhist tradition there are several meditation styles that can aid us in developing the qualities of peacefulness and wisdom. Join us for any or all of this series, if you would like to begin a meditation practice or renew the one you already have.
